For five years we provided the Annual Family Fun Day for TRC. Staff and their families were invited to a fun day in the countryside and later more centrally. Our first event with TRC was held in a field with no mains electricity or running water. Toilets were hired in for the occasion and power came from generators. The event was loosely based around “it’s a Knockout” with lots of silly games for the adults to participate if they wished. For the kids we had face painting, pony rides (from the local riding school) and water fights! Catering was a massive Hog roast with loads of salads all eaten on picnic rugs – it was a glorious sunny day and a very relaxed event. The best event of the day was the Landrover jousting – two open top Landy’s packed with water pistol toting guests bearing down on each other!
Such was the success of this initial event we went to arrange future family fun days at Kempton Racecourse with mini quad bikes and rock climbing, A Cuban themed day Kensington Roof Gardens with cigar rolling classes and a full chill out zone bought in, Canon Bridge Roof Gardens where guest were entertained by the Bonzo Dog Do Dah Band and enjoyed playing traditional fair ground games such as hoop la and hook a duck. Each of the fun days was always very well received by management and staff and we always received a very nice thank you letter from the organisers after the events.
